Nashville Predators fall to the Vancouver Canucks 6-2

Nashville PredatorsVancouver, Canada – The Nashville Predators dug themselves a huge hole early into this game and were never able to recover against the Vancouver Canucks, 6-2.

Vancouver scored three goals in the first period, and another goal early in the second period to hold a commanding 4 goal lead over Nashville and the Predators just couldn’t recover.

Pekka Rinne started in goal for the Predators, but was pulled after the Canucks scored the fourth goal for Juuse Saros who finished the game.

Nashville split their four game road trip, virtually gaining no ground on the teams they’re fighting to get into the wild card race for the playoffs.

Vancouver goals were scored by Zack MacEwen, Brandon Sutter, Jordie Benn, Elias Pettersson, J.T. Miller, and Jake Virtanen to give the Canucks the six goal total.

Nashville showed some life in the second period with goals from Craig Smith and Mikael Granlund.

Vancouver goalie Jacob Markstrom was invincible in net for the Canucks making highlight reel saves against the Predators all night long, and thwarting any comeback bid by Nashville.

The Predators are stuck at 59 points and are four points out of the wild card race in the Western Conference standings to make the playoffs.

Nashville returns home on Thursday night to host former coach Barry Trotz and the New York Islanders.  Puck drops at 7:00pm.
