Land Between the Lakes to hold Food Drive July 29th

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Land Between the Lakes asks the public to participate in a food drive on Saturday, July 29th. Visitors can bring 2 cans or boxes of non-perishable food items (per person) to any facility listed and receive a special discount.

Donations will go to the Stewart County Food Bank, Helping Hands in Trigg County, and Hope Food Bank in Lyon County.

Land Between the Lake releases Late Fall & Winter Operation Schedule

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Visitor facilities at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area began late fall and winter operation schedules in November.

Homeplace 1850s Working Farm and Woodlands Nature Station will offer various guided programs, including the popular Bald Eagle Van and River Cruise Tours. Starting November 25th, Planetarium visitors will experience vivid laser lights set to holiday music and other holiday shows digitally projected on a 40-foot dome. Groups of 10 or more can make reservations any time by calling 270.924.2020.

Land Between the Lakes Camping Reservations Available for Eclipse 2017

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area has opened the camping reservation system to accept early reservations for August 14th-August 23rd, 2017. A total solar eclipse will occur in the region on Monday, August 21st, 2017.

“We want to support our local communities and visitors who want to be here to experience this unusual astronomical event,” says Jeff Laird, Customer Service Manager at Land Between the Lakes.

Land Between The Lakes “No Hunting” Zones Open to Archery Deer Hunting

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLLand Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Five areas typically marked as “No Hunting” will opened to archery deer hunting on December 1st, in Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Hillman Ferry and Energy Lake campgrounds will be open to archery hunting through January 19th.

Piney Campground, Brandon Spring Group Center, and the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16 south of Fort Henry Road will be open to archery hunting through January 4th. Hunters are encouraged to harvest antlerless deer in these areas to maintain healthy deer populations.

Land Between The Lakes now accepting applications for 2015 Seasonal Camping

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area is now accepting applications for the 2015 Seasonal Camping Program.

There are a total of 113 campsites in the seasonal camping program available for two to nine months at Hillman Ferry, Piney, and Wranglers campgrounds.

Cravens Bay and Taylor Bay campgrounds have a total of 21 short-term (one to six months) sites available.

Celebrate National Trails Day at Land Between The Lakes

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – In celebration of the 22nd Annual National Trails Day on Saturday, June 7th, Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area invites the public to help with trail maintenance on Hillman Heritage National Recreation Trail.

Volunteers will meet at Hillman Ferry Campground gatehouse at 9:00am for a tailgate safety briefing. Volunteers will need to bring lunch, drinking water, and wear appropriate clothing, i.e., long pants, hiking boots, etc.

Public invited to Pisgah Bay Project at Land Between the Lakes

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, Ky – Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area invites the public to join them on a walking tour of the Pisgah Bay Project Area. The tour will begin at the North Welcome Station, rain or shine, at 8:00am on Thursday, May 22nd, 2014. Vehicles will caravan from there to tour areas where similar treatments have been implemented. Interested public are advised to wear walking shoes and bring their own snacks, water, tick repellant, and sunscreen.

Land Between the Lakes Welcomes Spring with 2014 Season Opening

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area began its 2014 operations today, Saturday, March 1st, by opening several popular visitor attractions.

The Homeplace, Woodlands Nature Station, and North and South Welcome Stations opened their doors March 1st, along with Energy Lake, Hillman Ferry, and Piney Campgrounds. The Homeplace, Woodlands Nature Station, and North and South Welcome Stations will be open Wednesday through Sunday during March, then open seven days a week beginning April 1st.

LBL “No Hunting” Zones Open to Archery Deer Hunting

 

Land Between the Lakes - LBLGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will open certain areas typically marked as “No Hunting” zones for archery deer hunting. Hunters are encouraged to harvest antlerless deer in these areas to reduce deer populations.

Kentucky areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 20th, including Hillman Ferry and Energy Lake campgrounds. Tennessee areas will be open to archery hunting from December 1st through January 5th and include Brandon Spring Group Center, Piney Campground, and the South Nature Watch Demonstration Area in the eastern portion of Hunt Area 16.
