Clarksville, TN – One of the greatest women’s tennis players in Austin Peay State University (APSU) history, a dynamic point guard from the Dave Loos era who piloted two conference title teams, an all-conference standout on Austin Peay State University volleyball’s very first championship team and an offensive linemen from the late-1940s heyday of Austin Peay State University football are set to be inducted to the Austin Peay State University Athletics Hall of Fame as representatives of the 2020 class.
Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) senior pole vaulter Savannah Amato began her chase for history, December 1st, 2018 as she begins her senior season and the chase to become the Ohio Valley Conference’s all-time leader in pole vaulting gold medals.
Amato, from Delaware, OH, enters her final season having won the last five OVC championships in the pole vault – along with a third-place finish in the indoor championship as a freshman — tying Southeast Missouri’s Michelle Jett (2003-06) and former Gov Carrie Burggraf (2007-10) for the conference’s all-time lead in the event.

Lidia Yanes Garcia named Outstanding Female Athlete, Track’s Breigh Jones chosen Female Legends
Clarksville, TN – Chris Horton, who punctuated a consummate basketball career with Ohio Valley Conference tournament most valuable player honors, has been chosen as both Austin Peay State University’s 2015-16 Outstanding Male Athlete as well as the Legends Award recipient as the most valuable male senior athlete.
Meanwhile, Lidia Yanes Garcia, who became the first women’s tennis player in OVC history to be named Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in the same season, was named APSU’s Outstanding Female Athlete.

The Tennessee and Ole Miss women’s basketball teams will forego their familiar school colors and don a different shade on Thursday night, as the teams participate in the “Live Pink, Bleed Orange” breast cancer awareness game at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Both teams started with wins over ranked teams in their respective conference openers but fell on Thursday night. After drawing a Monday night matchup this week at Missouri, the UT women are playing their third of three games in a span of seven days this week.

Corvallis, OR – #14 Tennessee rebounded from a loss at #15 Stanford just three days earlier with a 53-50 win at #7 Oregon State. The Lady Vols (8-3) ended the Beavers’ perfect start to the season as they fell to 8-1 overall.
Diamond DeShields scored a team-high 14 points, including two clutch free throws, her first of the night, with 31.4 seconds remaining — after missing her first six attempts — to seal the win. She also grabbed nine rebounds.

Instant Peay Play: Marco Iten and Breigh Jones reaching NCAA finals highlight Austin Peay State University Athletic Department’s 2014
Clarksville, TN – With the 2014 calendar coming to an end this week, there were several highlights over the past 12 months for the Austin Peay Athletic Department, but topping the list has to be the NCAA Championship appearances by Marco Iten in Men’s golf and Breigh Jones in women’s outdoor track and field.
Iten, a senior, would start his run to the NCAA men’s golf championships by winning Ohio Valley Conference medalist honors by a shot, which earned his a spot in the NCAA Regional in Auburn, AL.

Burlington, IA – In his first tournament as Austin Peay State University interim men’s golf coach, Dustin Korte will take an extremely young group of Govs to Golfweek’s Conference Challenge, Sunday-Tuesday, at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

Clarksville, TN – Dustin Korte, who spent the past season as part-time assistant to Kirk Kayden after a superb Governors golf career, has been named Austin Peay State University interim men’s golf coach.
Korte will step into the void left by Kayden, who announced last week he had accepted the head-coaching position at Mercer.
