Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUOcala, FL – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will be in Florida for the second time in less than two weeks when it travels to Ocala, FL, for the 2015 MSU Ocala Spring Invitational, to be played Sunday-Tuesday at the Juliette Falls Golf Resort.

The three-day, 54-hole, 18-team tournament will have a strong mid-major flavor to it.

In fact, in addition to APSU and host Morehead State, Murray State will be a third team representing the Ohio Valley Conference in the event.

The Juliette Falls Golf Course will play at par-72, 6,113 yards, with only 29 yards difference from the back nine and the front side. This is the second straight year the Lady Govs have played in this event.

“We are looking forward to playing Juliette Falls once again,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “The golf course is a great venue for a college event and there are some great teams participating.”

This also will be the Lady Govs second spring tournament. They finished 16th at the UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville, March 9th-10th.  Robson will be taking a group to Florida heavy-laden with youth. Junior Jessica Cathey, the two-time All-OVC selection, will be the veteran. The rest of lineup will be two sophomores—Morgan Kauffman and Morgan Gardner—and two freshmen—AnnaMichelle Moore and Anna Pope.

We are looking forward to playing much better this week,” Robson said. “My expectations for the team are for them to play with heart and a positive attitude; being competitive 100 percent of the time on each golf shot, being focused and having a good plan for each shot they face. If we do this we will be successful.

“We have to get away from trying to make scores happen and concentrate on the process and let the scores happen. We need to take each opportunity between know and OVC (April 20th-22nd, Hampton Cove on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Huntsville, Alabama) to compete and learn from each round.”
