Renato Nunez then launched a solo home run for the second consecutive game with his 23 home run of the season to give the Sounds a 3-0 lead in the top of the eighth inning.

Bobby Wahl then came on to pitch the ninth inning for the Sounds to try for his third save as a Sound. Wahl struck out Breyvic Valera to begin the frame before surrendering a base hit to Efren Navarro. Wahl then got the final two batters in Nick Martini and Jose Martinez to pop out to Sounds third baseman Matt Chapman to end the game and secure the Sounds 3-0 win.
