Clarksville, TN – It will only be the second game of its Ohio Valley Conference schedule, but Austin Peay women’s basketball team (3-11, 0-1 OVC) will face a formidable challenge when three-time defending OVC Champion UT Martin Skyhawks (9-6, 2-0 OVC) visits in a rescheduled 5:30pm, Monday contest at the Dunn Center.

Freshman forward Beth Rates earned APSU Player of the Game honors with a career-high 14 points and seven rebounds in Saturday’s loss. Sophomore guard Tiasha Gray had a 16-point, 7-rebound, 6-assist outing in the OVC lid lifter.
UT Martin brings a two-game win streak into Monday’s contest. The Skyhawks have scored 88 points in each of those two wins – an 88-75 win at Jacksonville State and an 88-87 victory at Murray State. Senior guard Heather Butler scored 33 points in Saturday’s win at Murray State.
Austin Peay Lady Govs
Austin Peay carries an eight-game losing streak into Monday’s contest, equaling its longest losing streak of the 2011-12 campaign. Sophomore guard Tiasha Gray leads the Lady Govs in scoring (14.7 ppg) and assists (5.0 apg) and her 4.9 rebounds per game ranks fourth on the team.
Gray has led the Lady Govs in scoring seven times this season and APSU is 2-5 in those games. Five APSU players have recorded a double-double this season. APSU has lost nine consecutive OVC home games.
UT Martin Skyhawks
UT Martin is 3-0 against common opponents with APSU, defeating Arkansas State (75-66), Evansville (93-77) and Southern Illinois (85-55), Austin Peay posted a 1-2 mark against those same squads. Monday’s game will be the final stop on a 10-game road trip that started with a November 29th contest against Winthrop, UTM is 5-4 on the excursion.
Senior Heather Butler ranks second among OVC scorers at 21.3 points per game and is third among the league’s shooters with 2.8 three-pointers per game. Senior Jasmine Newsome is fourth among OVC scorers at 18.7 points per game.
An Austin Peay Win Would

Hardaway Hits Boards
Sophomore forward Alexis Hardaway crashed the boards against Southeast Missouri, January 4th, nabbing a team-best 11 rebounds. It was her best rebounding effort this season, topping her 10-rebound effort at Southern Illinois, November 12th.
Olszewski Streak Ends
Senior guard Nicole Olszewski did not play in the OVC opener against Southeast Missouri, ending a streak of 105 consecutive games played. Prior to Saturday’s DNP she had appeared in every game played during her career.
Nwokocha Notches 1st Double Double
The milestone came in her 37th career game at Austin Peay. Nwokocha became the fifth Lady Govs player to record a double double this season.
Consistent Stainback
Junior Kristen Stainback finished with 15 points at Mississippi, December 30th. It was the 10th time this season she has reached double-digit scoring territory and she is averaging 10.9 points per game in the campaign.
Winless December
Austin Peay finished December without a victory in seven tries. It was the Lady Govs first month (in which more than one game was played) without a victory since posting an 0-9 mark in January 1990.
Banks Banks Two Honors
Freshman Tearra Banks picked up a pair of honors before the Christmas Break. She was named to the Wichita State Winter Classic All-Tournament team after averaging 13.5 points and 10 rebounds in the two tourney contests.
She then earned her second OVC Freshman of the Week award after posting 13.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in the week’s three games, including the WSU contests.
