Thunderstorms possible for Clarksville-Montgomery County
Winds of 40 to 50 mph will be the main concern in a few of these storms, along with locally heavy rainfall. At 6:02pm CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles south of Clarksville, moving east at 20 mph.

Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds of 60-75mph, large hail, and a few tornadoes can be expected this afternoon and evening across Clarksville and Middle Tennessee. Also, heavy rainfall with localized flash flooding may occur especially across southern and eastern Middle Tennessee.

Rainfall rates of 2 inches in an hour can be expected this afternoon and evening when a line of storms moves through the mid-state. Total rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches, with locally heavier amounts possible, will lead to an increasing threat of flash flooding in the watch area this evening.

Clarksville-Montgomery County is under Flash Flood Watch until late this evening
At 1:18pm CT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 9 miles southeast of Clarksville to 10 miles north of Dickson. Movement was northeast at 45 mph. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. In the infrared AIRS image, the large purple area indicates very cold clouds that have been carried high into the atmosphere by deep thunderstorms. These clouds are associated with heavy rainfall.
