APSU Athletics announces Credit available to Govs 2020 Baseball season ticket holders

 

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletics department is offering ticket credits to 2020 baseball season ticket holders, beginning Monday.

The credit season ticket holders receive may be used on any new APSU season ticket purchase (football, basketball or baseball) that has not been processed.

TSSAA postpones Hall of Fame Ceremony

 

Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA)Hermitage, TN – Amid the concerns of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the recommendations being made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) feel it is in the best interest of all involved to postpone the 2020 TSSAA Hall of Fame luncheon and induction ceremony.

The luncheon was originally set to be held on Saturday, April 18th, 2020 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Conference Center in Murfreesboro, TN.

TSSAA Board of Control meets via Teleconference

 

Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA)Nashville, TN – The TSSAA Board of Control met on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020. The meeting is normally held in person, but was conducted via teleconference due to the numerous precautions being taken regarding the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) virus.

The Board discussed the current status of the state basketball tournaments and voted to continue with the current suspension of the state basketball tournaments and explore what options are possible to conduct the tournament at a date in the near future.

OVC Cancels All Athletic Competitions through end of 2019-20 Academic Year due to Coronavirus

 

Ohio Valley Conference - OVCBrentwood, TN – The Ohio Valley Conference Board of Presidents have announced effectively immediately the cancellation of all intercollegiate competitions, including OVC Championships, through the end of the 2019-20 academic year due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) public health threat.

Additionally, all team practices will be suspended until April 3rd, 2020, at which time the impact of the suspension will be re-evaluated.

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – Not since World War II has there been a suspension of college athletics on such a widespread level across the country, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) athletic program among them, as the NCAA and its members try to figure out how to deal with the ramifications of ending their seasons due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The dominos started to fall with the cancellation of the men’s and women’s NCAA Basketball Championship Tournament, as well as any spring NCAA Championships that would follow over the next few months.

Major League Soccer suspends 2020 season for 30 days due to Coronavirus

 

Major League SoccerNew York, NY – Major League Soccer has suspended all games, effective immediately, for 30 days, the league announced Thursday, March 12th, 2020 as it continues to assess the impact of COVID-19 (the coronavirus).

The MLS announcement comes in the wake of the NBA suspending its season on Wednesday night. Prior to the suspension of the MLS season, two MLS matches scheduled for March 21st had already been postponed in Seattle and San Jose as measures are taken to contain COVID-19, which to date has seen over 1,000 confirmed cases in the United States.
