Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, December 19th, 2019, Representative Mark Green concluded his first year representing Tennessee’s 7th District by voting to ratify the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
The USMCA is the largest and most advanced trade deal in American history and a vital agreement for our country and for the State of Tennessee.
Green said, “I was proud to vote for the historic USMCA trade agreement today. USMCA is a tremendous win for the State of Tennessee and a victory for farmers, workers, and manufacturers all across America.”
“Canada and Mexico are big purchasers of Tennessee goods—buying more than 2/5 of our manufacturing exports. Over 248,700 jobs in Tennessee are supported by trade with Canada and Mexico alone,” said Green, “And under USMCA, those numbers will only grow.”
With the passage of USMCA, Americans will reap the benefits of freer, fairer trade. Unfortunately, Green said, “USMCA has sat on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk for over a year while she prioritized investigating the President over providing a win for the American people. While Democrats continue to launch endless fights against this President, President Donald Trump is fighting for our country.”
USMCA is projected to add 176,000 new jobs to the American economy, over $68 billion in new economic growth, and $2.2 billion in annual American agricultural exports.
